This is my hat

This is my hat

All hats have a story about who made them, chose and used them. Let’s do ours and tell their story!

Fluffy animals

Fluffy animals

Did you know that with rabbit’s fur and sheep’s wool we can create felt hats? From the contents of the long term exhibition and the reuse of textile materials, the  visitors are challenged to give wings to their imagination and create fluffy animals.

Hats with personality

Hats with personality

There are endless shapes that a hat can have. And if we create it, it can only have our personality! Fun or serious, colorful or monochrome, geometric or flowery, painted or built, it will always be our best creation that will wear the highest part of us.

Labeling Workshop

For over eighty years, the Industrial Hat Company (where the Museum is now located) has dressed Portugal from head to toe. Although it produced thousands of hats for other brands, the company always sought to invest in the development of its own brands, carefully building what we would now call a "brand identity." The logos, displayed on the hat linings, were subject to meticulous prior studies that transformed them into true artistic objects.

In this workshop, participants begin by analyzing the labels in the Museum''s collection to create a new label, revealing its full creative potential.

The Colors That Are Born

The Colors That Are Born

Blue, Yellow, Green, and Red… are colors we all know. But how are they formed? Using the color catalogs used in the dyeing laboratory of the Industrial Hat Factory, visitors will learn about the color wheel and its primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, and then create their own color catalog.

The Geometry of Machines

The Geometry of Machines

With rectangles, triangles, diamonds, and many other geometric shapes, we will build strange machines. In this workshop, visitors are challenged to (de)construct a machine with their own eyes and, through the combination of different shapes and colors, are led to (re)construct the same machine… or maybe not!

3D Postcards

3D Postcards

Based on the contents of the Museum''s exhibitions, visitors will be challenged to create and decorate a 3D postcard that they can later send to whomever they wish.

Color Prints

Color Prints

Starting by exploring some of the company''s hat shop advertising documents and branding plates, visitors are challenged to use their creative vision and different manual techniques to create their own advertising using embossed pieces.
