Celebrating the 2003 International Museum Day, the Hat Museum organized the exhibition “Hat Museum – from the project to the collections”. This exhibition was the culmination of a research project that aimed the study and inventorying of the Hat Museum collections. From this exhibition a catalogue with the same name was created . In 2001 the Hat Museum opened its first photography exhibition. The exhibition “Images of the end and of the beginning” by Aníbal Lemos (photographer), represents in its essence the paradigm of industrial museology, questioning through the image, the rupture of the spaces and its functions but also the rupture of the time. In April 2001, took place the First Conference of Museology promoted by the Hat Museum. This conference gathered, in S. João da Madeira, a significant number of directors of industrial museums, researchers, students of heritage areas, local authorities, technicians and general public. Of this conference resulted in the publication of this book which contains all the papers presented. (available for sale in the museum shop)
