HATTER ROUTES AND HERITAGE WALKS

The Routes and Walks are designed for groups of at least 10 people and can be booked at any time of year... however, we recommend good weather as all routes are on foot. Come spend a unique day in S. João da Madeira and discover a special heritage site that includes old factories, Brazilian architecture, and historic buildings...

HATTERS' DAY

Every year in June, the Hat Museum organizes a Meeting of Hatmakers Past and Present. These gatherings are a special time for all those who have dedicated their lives to hatmaking and to the Museum itself. Stories, shows, snacks, and plenty of conversation fill this special day each year.

Workshop

FELTRING WORKSHOPS

The Hat Museum offers periodic felting workshops with plates, needles, and soap. Aimed at different age groups, these workshops aim to stimulate creativity and give participants the opportunity to work with one of the most important raw materials in hatmaking: wool, creating beautiful objects. Stay tuned for our schedule!

Podcast

PODCAST

In partnership with Rádio Informédia, the Museum's audio content tells the stories of hats: their history, stories of those who wore them, and stories about the history of hatmaking and its industry. Men, women, and children gather during lunch breaks and share stories. Serious stories, about how serious the work of making hats was and is. And the Hat Museum wants to tell them: memories of male and female workers, hatmakers, and the journeys of many hats. They are the result of a collection of voices from the past, some long gone, but saved and shared for future memory. Point by point. The podcasts are a partnership between the Hat Museum and Informedia 106.3 - InforTv / in4 of S. João da Madeira. To listen to the podcasts, the Hat Museum recommends wearing a hat.

WHAT STORIES DO FAMILY PHOTOS TELL?

Throughout the year, countless stories and photographs remain in our memories, perhaps archived in old photo albums or even lost in drawers of old properties. In how many moments are hats present? How many stories are revealed in each of these images and objects? What life stories are preserved in these photographs? These are the testimonies we want you to share with us. The Hat Museum invites you to search your photographs and memories for moments where hats are present and tell us the stories they hold. Be part of this project and help us build a great story around hats. How to participate? Send a copy of the photograph, identification of the people portrayed, the story, and permission for its use and publication to museu.chapelaria@gmail.com
